The Sea of Languages exhibition proved very popular with visitors and generated a great deal of interest in 2008. Its success has prompted Linguamón to create a new, more compact exhibition, which is more adaptable to different venues and locations everywhere. The intention is for the exhibition to tour the whole of Catalonia and the other territories in which Catalan has traditionally been spoken over a two-year period.

The exhibition looks at the Mediterranean from an unusual perspective, namely that of its languages, and portrays the region as a focal point for interlinguistic and intercultural contact, exchange and enrichment.

‘The Sea of Languages. Speaking in the Mediterranean’ is complemented by a range of material, including educational resources designed for use in schools and to enhance visits. As of September, the exhibition will also have a virtual facet, featuring games, competitions and new activities revolving around linguistic diversity in the Mediterranean.
