IEA Visiting Researchers Grants

Call for Applications for 2010 Research Grants

International researchers from non-Spanish universities who wish to do a research stage for up to 6 months in a Catalan university are invited to apply for the IEA's Visiting Researcher Grant. The maximum amount of the grant is 9.000 ? (all grants also include a travel insurance).

Successful candidates will receive 60% of the total amount of the grant as soon as they start their research work at a Catalan University. The remaining 40% will be paid once the results of the research have been submitted to and evaluated positively by the IEA.

The deadline for submitting applications is the 16th of February 2010. It is very strongly recommended that candidates send their applications well before the deadline to make sure that we receive them by the above-mentioned deadline.

The jury which will award the grants will meet during spring 2010. Candidates should bear in mind that the stage would only start once the successful candidate has formally accepted the grant, that is, after the jury's decision has been publicized.

Conditions

The aim of the IEA's Visiting Researcher Grant is to integrate international non-Spanish researchers into existing research projects led by research groups ("Host Groups") from Catalan universities. In this sense, candidates should first of all contact a potential Host Group and secure an invitation from its Director to participate in the project. Candidates should then submit to the IEA a research proposal which would contribute to the development of that project.

Proposals should be focussed on a subject linked to federalism or political decentralization from a legal, economics and/or social sciences perspective.

Application Process

Once the Call for Applications is officially open (and not before), candidates should fill in the Application Form and send it by post (for administrative reasons, applications cannot be submitted via email). to the IEA, together with the following documents (the list of all required documents is also available as a check list at the end of the Application Form):

1. Photocopy of the Candidate's ID/Passport
2. Candidate's CV
3. Research Project (max 15 pages). It must contain:

d) Sources

4. Invitation letter by the Director of the Research Host Group
