The FGC tunnel located between the Europa|Fira and L'Hospitalet - Av. Carrilet stations will be back in operation next Saturday 2 February, after having been out of service for over three months due to the incident caused by work on the ‘AVE' high speed train line. Once the tests that are currently underway have been completed, services on the Llobregat-Anoia FGC line are expected to be fully restored.

The incident occurred on 20 October 2007 in the Gornal tunnel on the Llobregat-Anoia FGC railway line, caused by work on the ‘AVE' high speed train line, has affected 3,080,000 passengers and has given rise to direct economic damages calculated at 4.1 million euros, to date, according to a study performed by FGC.

It should be highlighted that taking advantage of the fact that the Gornal station was out of service, the remodelling work to adapt the station for use by reduced-mobility passengers has been completed. A lift has been installed for direct access to the lobby from the street and two lifts from the lobby to the platforms. In addition, the remodelling work in the Sant Josep station has also been intensified. This work forms part of the adaptation plan submitted by the Department of Territorial Policy and Public Works to adapt the metro and FGC network for use by passengers with reduced mobility.

Once the service is normalised, the alternative services being run by FGC for its users over the past three months shall be discontinued.
