A Molecular Treatment Cancer Research Unit has been created, which will be a pioneer in Europe
A Social Social Work "la Caixa", a sponsor of the Vall d'Hebron Foundation Oncology Institute (VHIO) and a driving force behind the creation of the first Molecular Treatment Cancer Research Unit - (Unidad de Investigación en Terapia Molecular del Cáncer-"la Caixa" (UITM), on the site of the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital. The Social Work of "la Caixa" will be investing 7 million euros in this project, the main aim of which is to speed up transfer of scientific results to clinic practice, where they can benefit oncology patients.
The scientific work done at UITM-"La Caixa" centres primarily on designing and finding new cancer treatment strategies, by developing clinical trials with new anti-tumour therapies.
